Re: Claron cd player
It isn't.
I never had any trouble with CDs I'd burnt myself.

Try a pound shop lense cleaner, self burned discs are never as deep as retail and grime that doesn't affect retail discs can affect cd-r's

Also worth making sure that the CDs were burnt with the right file system. Some players will read Joliet and ISO, others won't.

Re: Claron cd player
There's no such thing as a file system with an audio CD, it's all Red Book audio and is completely different.Rolebama wrote:Also worth making sure that the CDs were burnt with the right file system. Some players will read Joliet and ISO, others won't.
One thing that does help is to burn the CD at a lower speed than normal, 4x or 8x should be fine for most players.

Re: Claron cd player
Don't know where you get that idea. They use Joliet, ISO 9660 or UDF, or a combination of any two or all three. A decent burning program lets you choose which one or combination you want.

There is a difference between an audio CD and a data CD

Re: Claron cd player
The common difference between an audio CD and a data CD is dependent on which file system is used. Same thing applies to DVDs. Almost all PC burners will play any file format regardless of file system used, which is why sometimes the PC will play a burnt music CD that a household or car CD player won't.
Also, some CD players will play sessions, others won't, and almost all will gyp at a CD that hasn't been closed.

An audio CD is a "special" type of "file system". A CD player (not an MP3 player, but an old school CD player) will not play a data disk, in exactly the same way that early Windows could not read CD written using UDF.
