thanx i think i might have found the problem with the amp cutting out. i spoke to an audio fitter today he said the remote lead might not be up to the job i must ad mit it is a tad crap i can snap it by pulling it. so he said to take the remote lead out the amp and run a wire from the power in the amp and see if it works if it solves the problem then i need to replace the remote lead

the remote lead WILL NOT be the problem to your cutting out mate its impossible

for a start your silver eart cable looks WAY to long ..

how long is your earth cable from the amp to the car

also it doesnt look in a good place ..mine is here. this meets the chassis under the seats .. arrowed red

i put money on your problem lies with your earth position mate ...

bolt it to the chassis. under the carpets directly to the floor.

nice build by the way ..

a remote wire is simply a trigger from the head unit to switch amps on. all remote wires are thin and a baby could snap it by tuggin on it.

move the earth to the seat brackets in the middle were they meet the floor and your problem will be resolved i guarantee

also the shorter the earth the better

ok thanx for the advice i will have a look on sunday. so if i go in the boot to the middle of the seats at the bottom theres a bold to earth it to. do i have to sand anything there?

yes undo 2 bolts to 1 of the seat brackets. fold it back and sand the floor down to bare metal.

fold the seat bracket back down with the earth cable under it. and bolt it tight. these bolts really to go very tight.

cut your earth down to the correct size from the amp to the earth point. you dont need loads of cable going all over show

under your carpet here were i have arrowed it red. should be 2 brackets. 1 to each side of the seats. both have 2 bolts.

these ones bolt directly to the cars floor and not a bracket like were you have your earth now..

well i moved the earth and changed the wireing on the amp i had both subs bridged i have split the subs to there own channel and they seem to be ok so far i can turn up the vol it sounds great. i want a new head unit now i got a pioneer with usb for ipod i would like an alpine now .

its best to cut down the earth cables to the minimum required size. thats why my amps are fixed to the seat and cannot move. so my earth cables are only from amp to floor. no longer.

PS- the alpine 9855r is a brilliant mp3 head unit for a system. it has 3 rca outputs which are 4volt each. your better going for a 4volt pre out alpine. rather than a 2volt pre out alpine.

the 9855r is an old skool radio that still selling for about 130-150 quid. when this was new it was aprox £500

also the new range alpine 117r is also a good one.

even the cheaper new range alpines will out perform most expensive sony, pioneer, kenwood head units
you could buy a £170 alpine and it will easily out perform a £350 sony, pioneer or kenwood.
