Where does everyone ground their amplifiers?

Post by jason1987 »

and where do they run the RCA leads? as its not ment to be ran near the power cable but on the drivers side there isnt any carpet by the pedals and the rcas would stick out near the pedals, so where has everyone ran theirs? and where do you ground the amp? is there a common place on the D8's? preferably as short as possible from the boot

I tend to ground my amps on the rear seat belt mounting point in the centre of the car, and I always run my RCA's the opposite side to the power cable, so on mine the power cable goes up the passenger side as the battery is on that side, and the RCA's go up the drivers side. I have run them up and over the pedals and I have a plastic piece in the corner of the footwell which I have tucked it behind and then under the carpet and along the sill from there.

If your looking to make your own ground just get a self tapping screw, and put a metal washer onto the end of it, then clamp the wire into place by tightening it.

I actually run my power cable UNDER the car (3rd car now)... could never work out where to feed the thick power cable in. Ground is on one of the huge bolts holding the seat belt. RCA, under the centre console to under the carpet, under the rear seat into the boot.

I wouldn't want to run my power cable under any of my cars as I have lowered them all and ground them out on speed bumps every now and then so wouldn't want to run the risk. Easiest way to get a power cable through a bulkhead is to run it to a rubber gromit and then go through there. I wouldn't suggest grounding an amplifier though a self tapping screw due to the fact that you won't get the best performance out of your amp as it won't be able to flow the current it needs. Always try and use as big an area as possible for maximum contact, hence the seatbelt mount.

both my amps power leads are run on the passangers side , , the 3 rca leads i use run on the drivers side with the remote turn on wire , 8)

running the cable down the side beside the seats is the easiest , its just a case of takin a few torx screws out to remove the plastic trim bits

i earth mine under the brackets that bolt the back seat rest in place, ground cable shouldnt be no longer than 1 meter.

wouldnt recomend running it under the car

there is a access gromit under the passanger side footwell for power cables, , pull the carpet back and u cant miss it,
