Estate Boot Badge Refurbishment

Post by MilesS835 »

I am aware there is another post about refurbishing the estate's rear lion badge but unfortunately that one went dead a long time ago.
So here I am am trying to relight the fire regarding the rear badge.
I don't really want to just stick on a 307(I think) badge on it and be done with it because I like the look of the original.
So I sourced another rear badge from a scrappy which was tatty but in slightly better condition than the one on my car.
Here is before:

I proceeded to scrape off all of the old lacquer etc and sanded it until it was smooth:

After this I had to sand it smooth:

Once that was done I started the enamel paint:

Here is where I currently am at, waiting for the enamel to dry so I can polish and lacquer it.

So far I'm very pleased with the progress! :cheesy:

That's looking pretty darn good  I suspect you could still see the outline but still you must have a steady hand. Or did you use some sort of mask? Were you not tempted to paint something else on there? :supafrisk:

Thanks!
Once all the lacquer and paint had been scraped off, there was a tiny indentation where the lion bit is, I simply followed that very carefully, although I screwed it up a little in a couple of places! hopefully I can sort those minor issues out before the lacquer goes on.
I'm planning on going for a bit of a sleeper with the car, I'm half tempted to take the "V6" badges off and replace them with the "GLX" badges

It's a GLX spec which justifies the badge. I just like outrunning the Boy racers in their Corsa's from the lights in an old Pug!

I am in the envious position of owning a V6 coupe and a tweaked 2.2hdi estate, and to be honest there isn't a great deal of difference performance wise when hooning around town, but on the motorway the V6 has the legs....

It's a definite feeling of smugness when an old inconspicuous Peugeot estate surprises the boy racers :cheesy:
