Car cleaning
Being a keen car detailer when weather and funds permit I have a question:
With the exception of waxman for obvious reasons what do you all use
Post your before and after Pictures!

Re: Car cleaning
I've been using Megs stuff for the polish/waxing but buy all sorts of stuff from online Valeting suppliers.

Re: Car cleaning
Wow
Brilliant.
So: clay, glaze/polish/filler to 'hide' the swirls, then a few layers of decent wax.
Sounds like polishing would be a waste of my effort.
I'll keep reading over this and then I'll be back for product recommendation

Re: Car cleaning
DUH! I thought I was posting on the polishing and waxing (cry for help) thread.
Just a bucket and sponge and chamois here
Trying to reform my delinquent ways though...

A chamois is a bit old hat now if I may be so bold; a large Microfibre Towel is the way to go (like that there blue one above).rwb wrote: Just a bucket and sponge and chamois here

Also a 'sponge' just doesn't cut it nowadays; Sheepskin Wool mitts or MF Noddle Mitts are better.

Also mitts are less likely to scratch

Re: Car cleaning
In South Shields so i'm assuming most of the uk is the same we must have at least 10 'hand cars wash' places all seem to be run by Romanian/Polish looking people and charge between £3 to about £5 to hand wash your car with towel/chamois/blade thingy to dry. Are these better or worse than a bucket of soapy water and a manky sponge at home.

Re: Car cleaning
I'd be very cautious, there used to be (maybe still is) a Polish-run hand car wash near where I used to live, one of my colleagues took his Jag there on his way to a wedding and it seems like they guy dropped the chamois, picked it & carried on. When it dried off it looked like a skating rink
I suppose there'll be horror stories about whatever you use but I reckon if you care anything about your paintwork you'll put the effort in yourself. There's nothing like it for spotting all the new car park dings you've picked up since last time either
