stalk

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

stalk

Post by crispy »

Hi again my 52 plate rapier petrol has an annoying habit of flicking its indicator stalk from right to left when straightening up from turning,( after indicating right) so looks like im intending to pull to the nearside of the road all the time, as if the stalk has flicked back too far, ive got used to this but my partner aint, would it be easier to change the stalk or partner. If anyone has any ideas about it and how hard is it to change the stalk, ie does the steering wheel have to come off and has anyone got a good one for sale

Two of the cars I loked at before buying mine had the problem.

Anyone fixed it / swapped the offending bit themselves :?:
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Hmmm, I've considered it. The COMM 2000 for mine is £140. I haven't been spending the money 'cos I was suffering a misfire and felt that vehicular offload was imminent, but that's sorted now so I might yet splash the cash on sorting my stalk. I don't really fancy getting the wheel off myself although it doesn't look like too bad a job, just a bit scary with the pyrotechnic device in there, but a local specialist garage mentioned that they'd change it for £20. I'll cross that bridge if and when I come to it, guess it'll depend on testicular proportions on the day.

£20 doesn't sound too bad to me (am I getting lazy?) to avoid potential cock-ups on the airbag front.

Yeah that's what I thought, but I do like to do these things myself. Enhances one's understanding old boy... :cheesy:
