fault HELP

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

I'd change the fuse anyway (you never know, plus my eyesight's pretty crap) and check that connectors haven't pushed out the back or anything. Also have a quick look at the rest of the fuses too (manufacturers seem to change stuff about without telling anyone). I'm looking at a Haynes here and it's not to clear on the subject (surprise surprise) of which fuse does which (says 28 or 25)...

The next step depends whether you've got a multimeter or a test lamp or whether anyone else here can point you in the direction of a known weak spot (they don't shovel tons of salt all over the place here so I've never had any electrical problems, apart from the odd ECU going pop). I'm not sure if your car will have a timer relay or anything either. You'd have to test that you're getting 12 volts at the fuse and then at the switches/instruments to see if you can localise the problem - fuse panel or wiring/connectors in between. [voice of experience]Or maybe even a dodgy earth[/voice of experience]
