immobiliser acting strangely

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

immobiliser acting strangely

Post by pavlf »

Hello there, my P reg 2.1 glx td estate has recently started doing some odd stuff with the immobiliser. It isn't a problem yet, but I'm wondering if it's about to become one and also if anyone else has experienced anything similar. Basically the other day I got in and in my haste forgot to key in the number: it wasn't until a few minutes later as I was happily driving along that I realised I'd not put in the code. Hmmm!??! Later on I tried the same thing and it started fine again. I'm happy about this cos I hated putting the code into that flimsy device every time I went out in the car .... still, it was working before ... no code = no start. I've not done anything to it, not put in CIC and all that, not pulled any wires, nothing ... like I say I'm happy with this for the moment, but I'm obviously slightly concerned by this electrical gremlin and am worried that it may be a sign of things to come.

Any thoughts?

Cheers, Paul
