Switch next to diagnostic port

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Thanks for the replies, ya, its probably something to do with the cruise control which I never use. Thought it may have something to do with the OBD port as I seem to have no power supply to the OBD port.

I'm sure the OBD port has its own fuse...

Are you trying to communicate with the car to find a fault? If so, not all code readers work on the 406.

I have PP2000 but its not great as it came from ebay although it communicates with another 1999 HDI LX that I have in the garage but not with the 2001 110 HDI Executive. The 2001 has a few small issues that I would like to sort but I am unable to make connection with the car. I might buy another PP2000 next year from a reliable source. Any idea what fuse would be for the ODD port .

That's a tricky one - there are many variations of the engine fusebox layout, but as far as I know the OBD port supply is always a (red) 10A mini-fuse. There aren't that many of those fuses in there so you could check them all fairly quickly.

Also, you need to select 406R in the PP2000 menu to communicate with a later model. If this is something you may have overlooked...

This switch operates the ESP on my 2003 Executive, when I switch it off I get a "skid" light come up on the dash and a ding dong Avon calling sound

I'll have a look the weekend as the weather is bad here tonight. I had a look in the fuse board under the steering wheel but never in the engine compartment.

Definitely the cruise control switch. If it is working, pressing it in will put an orange light on in its face. But these switches are temperamental so often do not switch on because of corrosion inside and bad design.... had to fix most of mine as I use cruise all the time due to a wonky right leg/knee..
Diagnostic port is fused but varies which fuse is the culprit. If you cant find which one, just supply 12v to pin 16 (bottom far rhs pin). PP2000 will not communicate without the 12v supply.

Why? I use it every day even for 500m of constant speed.
