I've not been on here for a while, mainly due to the 406 behaving itself but today after disconnecting the battery for an alternator swap I now have the immobiliser fault on the display.
All the usual tricks tried with the BSI reset etc but still showing the fault. I thought I'd left the car long enough before disconnecting the battery but obviously not
Could anyone tell me if an unlocked ECU would be a straight cure for this problem or am I looking at the BSI to be re-coded to the key etc.
I have no PP2000 and wondered if there was anyone in the Hinckley/Leicester area that could do this for me, I'd gladly pay them for their time and make lots of tea if so
Thanks, Paul.

Re: Immobiliser fault
Nic! How did you manage to solve this issue? By fitting a new transponder antenna?

Re: Immobiliser fault
Hi Frog, the antenna was okay although I have got one coming to keep as a future spare. I had disconnected the battery too soon after switching the ignition off (for an alternator change) and lost the key code. Dirtydirtydiesel kindly made the round trip to re-code the keys to the BSI for me so am really grateful to him.

Re: Immobiliser fault
Wow, he came to your place and fixed the BSI? Cool! How did he re-code the keys to the BSI? Can that be done "simply" using PP2000? Or does it require unsoldering and reprogramming the BSI EEPROM chip?

Re: Immobiliser fault
Yep it was really good of him to help me out Frog, it was done using PP2000. I am not very techy but am on the lookout for a good used PP2000 as I'm intending to keep the car for a long time and need to learn this stuff.

Hi frog,
How are you? Keeping well I hope.
I still haven't got to the bottom of the airbag issue (but to be fair I haven't tried for over a year )
okehdokeh's problem was very straightforward,
he had just disconnected the battery before the bsi had gone to sleep,
so I needed to input the four digit security key code via pp2000.
2002 110 HDi estate, Rapier in monaco blue! ( found quite a bit more power ) SOLD I've sorted the airbag light
