Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

whats going on ??

Post by johntl »

Had a odd thing happen ! first time in over 9yrs ! :o :?
switched the ignition on , and the oddometer read 77... miles and the top one read a different number for a very short time ?
after say 10 seconds both sorted itself out jumping around , now back to the correct 180k and correct top number
My Question is : does this mean somebody has messed with the mileage , ie: clocking it , or has this happened to others ?? Been OK since

Sounds like just an electronic glitch, I was an electronics engineer for 50 years but I don't understand modern vehicle electronics - or most others come to that.

If it occurs again you cold try a BSI reset or it could be that your battery voltage is low, check for about 14.4 volts across the battery with the engine running.

I have a C5 with intermittent wipers, they have been working most of the time but didn't a couple of days ago, I did a reset and they work now! :?

No, it won't affect the ECU.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
