Air re-circulation flap doesn't

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Air re-circulation flap doesn't

Post by PeterN »

When I started using my new 406 estate I found, or at least my wife did that sometimes the windscreen steams up although you could clear it by putting the aircon on it was quite severe. My first thought was leaking heater matrix, but fortunately not. I was looking at the air intake in the scuttle for wet leaves or something similar when I discovered that the fresh air intake flap is stuck permanently in the 'recirculate' mode.

I assume this is controlled by a motor, can anyone tell me where it is or if its get attable. Never had this happen before the other cars have been almost 100% reliable. If its difficult I will just have to jam the flap open.

Thanks

Peter

It's on the heater box: remove glove box, stand on head... They're good at stripping gears. You should be able to hear it working though, small motor whine and clicky clicky as the gears jump. If not maybe it's just a bad connection.

Mine was jammed, I just forced it open as I've never used it in the closed position - I like fresh air....
The motor that changes the flap position is to the right if the glovebox, you need to remove the lid to see it.
It's matchbox size, and normally you would hear it working, or grinding.....
