Yeah Bas Putter is our steely eyed missile man!

But that is not my repo you are pointing at. Someone archived Lebowski controler data when Bas posted it opensource. Its all here if you are interested

And my contribution....

I have a repo here...

Also there is a comunity of EV conversions here with another clever FOC controler if you are interested. Lots of video too...

I am interested but I really need an idiot's guide... I'm a long-term petrol head so this is kind of an academic study for me. In my ignorance I thought the idea was to stick the motor, batteries etc. from an EV straight in and then the only difficulties would be getting the car's controls to talk to it. But the rabbit hole is far deeper than that.

By the way, Bas says he won't be carrying on development because of the laws in Switzerland, is this being able to drive the things or is he forbidden to work on it? Also, will you be able to register your car in Slovenia? I can imagine in Croatia the authorities would make things extremely difficult/impossible/stupid and expensive.

Yeah, i think they changed some laws about ebike configuration in the city and his was not limited by speed and was made DIY. I dont think they allow that now.

In Slovenia you can go for vehicle change, but sadly they only cover up to 60Vdc battery. Anything more is considered "battery system" and its safety/quality needs to be confirmed by a 3rd party for which there is none here :). I went for TUV Sud in Germany and my car was then considered OK. A lot of help was that i used already approved components that were fitted in a car before :).

Yes well it used to be more complicated mechanicaly. Now you can get a motor with gearbox and driveshafts and all you need to do is allign and fit it in the chassis. Then you can also use original inverter and hijack its brain which is more complicated. But nowadays i see a trend of special MCUs that you fit between your car and inverter and it translates the signal inverter expects to see. This makes it much easier as you dont need to be EE.
They have a nice wifi interface and other perks...
