Speak to me about PP2000 and Lexia stuff

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Speak to me about PP2000 and Lexia stuff

Post by Sonia406 »

Ok I have a question.......

First diagnostics Miss Pug had done was using Lexia, the Peugeot and Citroén diagnostics, seemed slow, and even then didn't seem as good as PP2000.
Second diagnostics rwb used his Pp2000 on it, was fast, well informative and seemed much more ''greater detail''.

What do you recommend, PP2000 or lexia?
Is there much difference between the two?

I've been looking on e-bay and PP2000 doesn't seem that badly priced....... including all cables and diagbox.

Looking at getting a cheap XP laptop to run either...

It is very simple really.

Clones are clones and use a cloned serial number. Each version of PP2000, lexia, diagbox et all updates the clone interface with new internal software so each clone is (generally) as good as that version of the diagnostic software. At some stage it was noticed that there were clones and they were blacklisted. The software was changed so that it disabled the clone interface. This was long after our production run ended.

As to XP - get a cheap laptop off the bay, install only XP and diagnostics on it and only use it for that. If it is never updated to deal with security issues that does not matter. You should never connect it to the internet anyway.
Remember - it only takes a few inches of water to drown a 406 don't make the same mistake I made! The V6 Exec is no more.

PP2000 and lexia are the same thing, you get the one lead,
the reason for the different names is for the software; pp2000 is the peugeot software, lexia the citroen software.
The speed would depend on the computer running it.

As for a laptop its not too sore on a computers resources, i installed both onto an MSI wind netbook after using an external dvd drive and it runs fine.

So am I right in thinking that PP2000 IS also Lexia 3?
Mums just bought herself another 206 so it would be nice for me bite the bullet and buy the diagnostics.
Also my friend is still having problems with her 206 (it does not help the garage are idiots........)
Anyway - I have been offered an XP laptop for £65 which includes delivery so I am going to take it.........

What's the best price for the PROPER software?
I have seen some on ebay for I think £70 + £5 postage but how would I know if it's a clone? They don't list the serial numbers in the listings, lol.

You can only really get a clone - the real thing would cost more than your car plus a hefty annual subscription. I bought mine about 4 years ago, cost me £155, but now somewhere just south of £100 seems the going rate. If you've several sellers to choose from, go for a UK one if possible, in case of snags.

They are all clones on ebay, mine was but it works fine, as doggy says buy from a uk seller, chinese ones dont have as good customer services and there is quite a long wait for them to arrive.

And PP2000 and lexia both run through the same dongle/wire thingy, the only difference is on your desktop you have pp2000 or peugeot planet icon to run the program for peugeots, and the lexia icon for citroens.

Peugeot is really handy that it has this option, ive tried using a renault clip me and my cousin bought and the software is not as easy to use.

Hi Sonia, yeah mines a clone too. Works fine on mine but not tested it on other pugs yet.

Don't be worried about using a clone, as everyone says - most of them are.

I bought a cheap laptop just for PP2000 and nothing else, except maybe for little ones to watch a DVD on a long journey, and that too is fine. Just make sure the hard drive is at least 10 gig.
