Peugeot 406 doesn't start after hot sun exposure

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Peugeot 406 doesn't start after hot sun exposure

Post by aabrantes »

Hello everyone
I'm new here, just registered!
I have a Peugeot 406 1.8 - 16v-LFY.
An year ago my Peugeot showed up with a strange problem, always worked fine, but when I park in the sun (of Portugal) only after cooling (with all the doors open) it starts.
Can anyone can give me an hand?
Thanks

That has to rank as one of the weirdest faults we've had on here  I can't imagine why something on the interior of the car would stop the engine firing. Are any faults being logged? I take it it's turning over but not firing, does it come up with an immobiliser fault?

This used to be an issue on cars with carbs, as the petrol sometimes evaporated in the heat and would take a while to restart, but not sure about injected cars.
I was thinking immobiliser too, maybe put a shield or something over the steering wheel / ignition barrel?
I did see some sun once....... 8)
