My car locks itself, no realy, it does !

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

My car locks itself, no realy, it does !

Post by Welly »

Was unloading stuff from my car at work yesterday morning dashing back and forth to the car in the rain and intended to return to lock it on the last go but forgot.

When I later remembered to lock it..........you guessed it............it had locked itself!

So, last night when I got home I thought I'd try it again, left it unlocked, went to check it later and it was locked again!

I never knew it did this, the only thing I can't bring myself round to doing yet is waiting patiently by the car to find out how long it takes for it to lock itself, I think I will have had to have hit rock bottom to do that just yet......mind you this is yet another ''interesting little feature'' to add to the list.

Edited to add this old thread: http://new.406oc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t= ... highlight=

Cool, im gonna try that one out later.
Yet another feature that I didnt know about. :cheesy:
I found out how to turn off the automatic lights the other day.
When you press the On button on the end of the stalk, instead of the auto lights on message, you just get a "bong", with no message. This doesnt turn them off by itself, you now have to use the normal light switch, and turn them on , then off again. Now yer lights are in total manual mode.

Silly question: So how do you know if you've got auto lights?

The left stalk has a push button on the end, with AUTO written next to it.
Push and hold till it "bongs" at you, and the "Auto lighting active" message comes up on the display.
Thats how mine works anyway

auto volume on the stereo(works with speed)uhh?
Hey,.....I bet you did not know that when you select reverse gear the mirror clears instantly (for safe reversing).

More intersting little facts from Welton.

Well I never knew that one!
The stereo volume is a load of pants. I cant determine if it actually works or not. Its supposed to get louder as the speed increases. Scroll through the setups with the right button on the display and it will be on there if you have it.
I just set the volume to MAX, and lower the windows like normal!! NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

why do so many 406's have different features and are not all the same ?

i have 2.0 glx
it has auto wipers, and that i think is about it :( some have keypads for a code some have trip computer displays, folding wing mirrors etc

what else could i possibly have that i have not discovered in my 2 weeks of been a 406 owner, by the way i love the car superb drive.

I have a 2003 SE with Auto lights, wipers, dimming mirror, speed volume thingy, but no heated seats.

Seats are electric but not memory.

Is this some kind of one off model??
