key coding

got a sri turbo d8 and keys fallin apart,from what i've heard phase 1 6's use ir keys so can i get one off ebay and code it myself??someone told me you can do it urself is this true or is it main dealer only?? :?
if you dont do it, it wont get broke!!

Does the plip bit of the key still work? If so why not just get one of eBay and change the casing over?

changed the batteries in the key today and now blummin thing does'nt work! :shock:
looks like its not the infa red jobbie and about £75 + vat for new one.apparently just send away for it and it comes back ready to use.
checked over little curcit and looks ok no breaks,but missus said interior light was flashing when she got into car and now wont work again!!!
if you dont do it, it wont get broke!!

how do you know which key type you have??? :?

If your key has a LED 'bulb' beside the blade then it's an Infra Red type, other wise it's RF. BTW D8's do use both types.

walked out to the car this morning, thought id try the key one more time and.............blummin thing worked, and is workin fine now!! :shock:
bit strange but not moanin.
if you dont do it, it wont get broke!!
