not your adverage fan problme...somone please help!

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

not your adverage fan problme...somone please help!

Post by trishacar »

hi guys im new to this forum and i was wondering if somone could help me with somthing thats driving me mad.
i have a 1998 406 2.0 glx that i just picked up yesterday. and its perfect in everyway except for one thing. the blowers.
it has the digital climate control and u can adjust the temrature. put it on auto, aircon, econ the works. everything is great accept i cant trun the blowers off. they are on from the moment i switch the car on till the moment i switch it off. if i press the the blower button to increase spead it will come up on the screen that i have done so, but it wont make any difference to the fan itself. and if i try and turn it down or off completley then once again it just stays at the same spead and doenst go off.
does anyone have anyidea what the hell is going on with it? i know in this weather its not exactly a bad thing that there on all the time but its driving me up the wall.

any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

ryan

Hi there, welcome :cheesy:

That's probably the control module, no. 2 here:

Fairly common actually, they either run full tilt or not at all

Opps, sorry for the delay, it's all gone a bit silly this evening

Looks like it comes apart to me. Have a look at yours (or one in the breaker's...)

I think it's a couple of power transistors that are controlled by signals coming from the ecu.
