Learning Gearbox?

Hi,

My 2.0 exec auto can be a bit frustrating to drive sometimes. In non 'sport' mode it changes up from 3rd too quickly and sometimes you get stuck in 4th going nowhere fast and it wont kickdown. In sport mode its too much of the other extreme - so I'm wondering if the gearbox ECU is of the learning variety which adapts to your driving style? If so can I reset it and train it properly?!?
