If you can see any numbers on the wires, I can try and search them in the database if you want?

Re: Cruise or not ? UPDATED NEWS, good news, retrofit possib
From what I gather (disclaimer: the following paragraphs may or may not include the truth):
Modern (D9 with COM2000) 406s use electronic "drive-by-wire" where the accelerator pedal tells the ECU the position of the pedal, and the ECU then tells the engine to increase/decrease power electronically. Because this is done through the ECU, then the cruise control is a simple program within the ECU that monitors your speed, and adjusts the power on the engine so that it matches the setting you dial in via the COM2000 cruise control stalk. In order to retro-fit cruise control, you just need to add the stalk, add the microswitches to the brake and clutch pedals (if they are not already present) and then change a setting on the BSI (via Peugeot Planet software) to tell the car that it actually does have cruise control.
Older (D8 and pre-COM2000 D9) use traditional throttle cables, so when you push the pedal you're directly affecting the engine. Cruise control is therefore not fully-electronic as it is in modern cars, so an elaborate (read: delicate) system of vacuum-operated parts is required to act as an interface between the accelerator pedal and the throttle cable. If your car does not have these vacuum-operated parts, then retro-fitting cruise control just got a whole lot more involved.
My old 1.8 didn't have cruise control, or COM2000, so I have no direct experience with CC on older cars. My new Coupe has it built-in, but it's a COM2000 "drive-by-wire" system.

My old D8 2.1td was drive-by-wire, you couldn't fit cruise to them (afaik). HDis were always dbw (again afaik) even D8s.

No worries, hope your finger stops being unpleasant!
So what cars used this vacuum-operated cruise control system then?

(I heard on the news this morning that in 41 of the 51 states, (their number not mine), US schools are abandoning teaching handwriting in favour of the '3 T's' (texting, tapping, typing)).

Just some minor surgery
I had a wart cut out from the 2nd joint of the index finger of my r hand - 3 stitches, on the joint... my finger wants to type so mostly using left hand.
There must be a change over somewhere but SB lists the vacuum for all 406s, even using the vin.

Re: Cruise or not ? UPDATED NEWS, good news, retrofit possib
you gathered it wrong, some pre com2000 aren't like the old D8 that needed the actuators and stuff.. because mine is not com2000 and it's still 100% electronically controlled by the engine, the only change between mine and COM2000 is that COM2000 is more multiplexed which is wired to BSI , therefore when you add the cruise stalk to this ones ( note that pre com2000 cruise stalks where very different then the ones found on COM2000) the stalk is " inserted " in the COM2000 itself ... and then you need to activate it on BSI, on older cars the stalk is separated from the com2000, you can see that here in my topic, and is drectly connected to ECU, therefore you don't need to activate anything on BSI side because as i have checked, there is nothing to activate in the first place, but you still need to enable it on engine ECU , BUT ( well i don't know if the firsts HDi's add this programmed on ECU or it was still the old mechanism including vacuum operaters, etc, and then they changed it on the early 2000 )highlander wrote:From what I gather (disclaimer: the following paragraphs may or may not include the truth):

Re: Cruise or not ? UPDATED NEWS, good news, retrofit possib
Yeah talking to you
It will tell you on the top of the ECU

The standard one which uses CAN high and Low is just the EDC15c2 with three plugs
The Variants use K-line for diagnostics and have one plug
Three Plug

One plug [variants]

Only reason why I ask, is that I'm trying to fit it to the DW10 engine thats fitted to a 206, and if the 406 has the same ECU, I can use the wiring diagram from that
