Dashboard multifunction display??
Hey guys - I have the 97 LX which does not have a multifunction display as standard - When i removed the little tray in the dash i noticed there is the wiring for one - Is it a case of just plugging one in and it will work - If so which one to get as on ebay there seems to be a few types - or is it more complicated than that? and are they worth having?

If you've got the petrol model then yes you can retrofit full trip computer functionality.
It will also display outside temp but you'll either have to retrofit electric wing mirrors (another very worthwhile project!) or botch a sensor into your existing one.
It involves a lot of splicing but it's well worth it in my opinion! Myself and mjb have done it, have a search in the electrical thread for trip computer installation.

You could fit it but it wouldn't give you any fuel type information, no mpg etc.

The existing loom will only power up the screen, nothing else. It'll just show dashes because there are no signal inputs.406IT wrote:Hi mine is a 97 1.9 diesel Estate LX- when i take out the little storage area where the multifunction display would fit - the wiring is there but didnt know if it would work..

Re: Dashboard multifunction display??
Hi, I have the 1.9 saloon (1998). I have fitted the multifunction display and as someone here has already said, it only powers up the screen however it does show --- flashing with the degrees Celsius sign in the top right corner . I was rather hoping though that when I fit the electric mirrors (fingers crossed the wiring is pre-fitted as I haven't yet checked) it will show me the external temperature. any ideas?
Thanks
Luke

Re: Dashboard multifunction display??
i would guess that you need to enable it in PP2000. Have you got access to it?
