Remote Central Locking stopped working

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Remote Central Locking stopped working

Post by DaveyRapier »

Hi I disconnected the battery on my 2003 110 HDI 406 for about 45 mins to weld the exhaust. When I hooked it back on the RCL had stopped working, it has always worked perfectly since I've had the car until now. I tried searching online and found a couple of sequences for re-pairing the key but I'm not sure if they're correct or not as they haven't worked.

Do I need to have the car plugged on at a garage now to fix this or what can I do? I can still lock the car manually but the remote locking was very handy

Didn't know there was a correct procedure I just turned the car off and disconnected the live terminal?

Yeah I tried that turning the ignition on and holding the lock button for 10secs it isn't working. I also tried one which was locking the door manually and holding it for 5secs then unlocking it and holding for 5secs didn't work either.

Is there any other options available?

Is that peugeot specific or will any good brand of diagnostic computer be able to do the re-synch?

I have this tee shirt too.

If you have the 4-digit PIN code that comes with the car when new, anyone with PP2000 can do it for you, (there are a few of us on the forum).

If you don't have the PIN code, Google 'Peugeot VIN to PIN or similar', you may find someone prepared to recover the PIN for you for a moderate fee. Peugeot will charge you £25 or so to recover the PIN and about £50 to re-sync it.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
