new pp2000 owner questions plz

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Other users don't have the language issue, (I ceratinly haven't experienced it). Unfortunately it's a good while since I did a PP2000 install and don't remember making a language choice - is it possible there's something set to french, (or undefined), in your laptop's configuration which is allowing the install program to assume you want french?

If you add your location, perhaps someone local can help?

This is when the programme is running. I select peugeot planet 2000 from the drop down bar the choices are diagtool, peugeot planet 2000, peugeot planet diag & peugeot planet measure. So when u click pp2000 it goes off into these french blue screen messages

During the install bit, did you get this screen to choose language? I know it's Lexia, but I installed both (Lexia & Planet) on my lappy. Is it possible to only install Planet without Lexia??

Do you remember if you got to choose the language in that case (as in Lexia), as briangoo seems to be stuck in France!

On mine, I installed Lexia first, as it wasn't really important but came on same CD and the language choice was the first page ( I think )
I'm sure there was the same option screen on Peugeot Planet, but can't remember for sure. Can you not press one of the ' function ' keys to change language when PP is opened?

Have you Activated the Peugeot Planet? I mean, have you connected laptop to tinternet and gone through the troublesome process of the final stage of setting up?

He said make sure u don't connect to intenet as in updates. It came with a seperate cd marked pp2000 but I asked about this & he said it was a copy of just pp2000 but I don't need to use it. Yes on the install cd when u 1st start it asks about language but I think its just the install language

Don't ever update via the web, or anywhere else for that matter.
Several over on the Coupe forum tried it and it killed the Planet software stone dead. You don't need to connect to the web to install it either, but it does need to be connected to your laptop though. (not to the car, just plugged into the USB)

There's no need to update anyway. Our cars aren't brand new so we don't need the latest version. Everything you need will already be there.

When you finally get it going, it asks each time whether you want to search for new updates....just press no!

Don't worry I wouldn't be updating it. So just to clear it up when it works u just click on peugeot planet on the menu & then it will talk to the car automatically. As I think in french its telling me it isn't connecting to the car I guess. Ps I'm in south tyneside if any 1 is near by

When it up and running, select Planet 2000, then 406, then 406(R, in our case). It then prompts you for the build code and then you're in.

had another French lesson today, no luck but when u try to connect as in click pp2000 this is how it goes in French but translated:

switch on the ignition connect to the test connector c001

the computer did not respond

have you made the right choice
-type of vehicle
-type motor
-type of injection

control the line of diagnostic

but if you try & put the ignition on just no.1 it knows you haven't done it properly but knows when you have switched to no.2. so if it can't talk to the car then how the hell does it know that you have turned the ignition to no.2 ?????????????????????

Hi, I only suggested going on tinternet to validate the program - mine wouldn't work without being validated. No web sites involved, just a ping test I guess??

I never update mine either - I am on version 22.15 and it is all I need.

If you press F11, do you get the language choice menu pop up? Mine has a French flag on it ( no, not a white one - the tricolore ) even though it is in English..

Worse case scenario, try the other PP2000 disc instead.. It does mean starting again but I guess you have nothing to lose - apart from more patience.

You are doing well, if I had this much trouble setting mine up, my laptop would be on fire in a hedge somewhere and the pp2000 disc skimmed across the nearest lake....
