Air Bag light still flashing!

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Air Bag light still flashing!

Post by Juzza »

Replaced standard seats with leather ones. Air bag light started flashing - common fault I find out from browsing the forum. Problem is that I can't stop it flashing.
Can the Airbag ECU be re-set? does it need to be?

I have soldered on connectors of the orange plgs under the seats, then took them off and soldered the wires directly. Nothing changed, I have even been and taken the seatbelt tensioner things off the old seats and wired them up instead of the existing ones - no different. Thought I had possibly knocked wires to the ecu or passenger air bag while doing the wiring. Checked that and all seems to be ok.

Any one got any ideas? It's starting to wind me up now and I have MOT in 6 weeks...been told it is an MOT fail? Only thing I can think of is to take the bulb out! Is the circuit fused?

Any help most gratefully received!

At least it's sunny down here and not raining yet! :cheesy:

I had exactly the same problem after moving the passenger seat forwards one day, airbag light kept flashing. So I disconnected the battery, unbolted the seat, and found that none of the wires were loose or anything... so I gave them all a wiggle, bolted the seat back down, reconnected the battery and it stopped flashing. Battery was disconnected for around 20 minutes total as I also changed the spark plugs and air filter at the same time.

Hope this helps!
