Volvo V70

Post by FarmerPug »

I got myself a Volvo, a 2004 V70 D5 with 47,000miles.

Just drove it back home, it averaged a touch over 44 mpg, i was impressed with how solid these feel but yet still ride really well.

Already been doing some estate car duties :cheesy:

Looks very nice, I love those seats - and with four spare wheels too.

YES!

Welcome to the club :cheesy:

That's a good find for sure. Lots of fresh oil changes will help, that's such low miles

Well um i paid £4750 for it, travel expenses to get it home about £250.

Great driving car, feels like driving a tank and great seats. The problem is how i drive, 5 miles to work, 5 miles back home, 5 miles to the shed and 5 back home, on small roads where an automatic was least efficient, the trip computer was averaging 30mpg it ended up using a full tank in 2 weeks.
My uncle does more motorway miles and has a Mercedes C270 which is quite rusty and troublesome, so I've sold him the Volvo today and am heading back across to the mainland to buy a 406 estate, and a 2 post lift with the spare change :cheesy:

Frank,
You just can't get a better motor for the money :cheesy:
& you can't stay away

On a side note its the economy or lack of it that keeps me away from a V70 D5,
I've already got a car with a drinking problem

The V70 lasted about a month, fuel consumption was horrific for a daily driver at 27mpg going to work. Sold the car for what i paid to a relative and bought the 406 and a 2 post lift with change to spare :cheesy:

That was back in 2018, last year i did go a bit mad and bought something also from the ford premiere auto group.

The Ford Scorpio Vignale:

Obviously the 406 still gets used as the daily for the moment as it likes a drink

Nice car :cheesy:

A friend at work swapped his troublesome Focus ST for a 3.0 auto Jaguar Mondeo.

To be fair he drove it quite hard, but his economy was so low he filled up once a week - around 150miles....
The local Esso garage was the Jags second home.

It's a nice car though, it's a lovely place to sit, and most gadgets seem to work.
