Volvo Forum dishes out free DPF-delete maps shocker

Post by Welly »

I can't believe this, openly sharing a DPF delete software fix

As the Volvo 2.0D is essentially a HDi unit is this information likely to cross over into the Pug software?

Reading the guys instructions you'd need balls of steel to give it a go

Luckily you won't need to register to the horrid place to read the fred.

Hmmm. Volvo owners with balls of steel? :?

One imagines there wouldn't be multitudes fitting those criteria.

Now, if I had a Volvo, I probably would go for it. It's not so different from the process for producing and installing a DPF-free version for our cars, a bit more hands on, but not terrifying to those of us who grew up with the steam powered mircoprocessors of the 80's.

I was going to say there was no way this would 'port' to a Pug, but since he's describing a conversion process and not offering a converted map, Any Pug with the same ecu, MIGHT be able to be converted in exactly the same way.

Mustard admit I had no idea said 2.0 Volvo has a real engine.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Yep, the very same.....just don't mention the 1.6D

The 1.8 and 2.0 Pez engines are Ford units and definitely don't suffer high oil consumption no they don't :supafrisk:

I think so it's just that the 1.6 seems to be criticised a bit more? to be fair I've not seen any turbo fails of HP fails on the forum but I think a few have said the way the 1.6 drives seems to be variable and there's a few dealer software fixes about?

To be honest although we've heard the Pug 1.6D suffers Turbo failure it seems mostly down to neglect and not changing/cleaning a mesh filter on the oil feed, armed with this info an owner can then make sure these things are dealt with before they become a problem.

In other news my suspension is going all 'Ford' on me again I think, something's not right and I'm tired of this suspension it lets the car down it's a constant PITA. Engine and box are still stonking though as it the general condition....had it 5.5 years now
