how difficault is it to swap the instument cluster, i have a 1.8 lxs d8 s plate, and it has the dash with the pug badge in it and id like to fit the one with oil temp or pressure, ive seen a few d8s with this dash, will i have to get a d8 one or will the d9 fit

It's a piece of cake.
Unlock the steering wheel and pull it out as far as it will go & push it down,
Remove 3 screws in the top of the instrument surround and gently pull it out; work your way around releasing the vents as you pull. Watch out for the vinyl on the hooded bit of the dash as the screw posts snag on it; it's a bit of a fiddle getting it past the steering wheel!
Remove 4 screws in the instrument cluster. Grasp it near the top and roll it towards you, there are 2 connectors to disconnect then it can be removed.

On a side note, I had an lx 1.8 too and tried this; the oil level gauge didn't work so I consigned it to the parts cupboard! I guess you'd need the oil level sensor for it to work!

I don't think you really want one from a D9, BSI and all that.

I've got a funny feeling the connectors are different anyway, not 100% sure

D8 and D9 instrument clusters are not interchangeable unless you fancy replacing half the cars electrical systems

get the coupe dials, thats what i put in my D8, they look the buisness 8)
the wiring is partly there for the oil temp gauge, you need the sensor and extend the wiring slightly
