I'm pretty sure they're meant to be clipped in, no gum necessary. Presumably all the clips are broken.

Yea, maybe I didn't explain my self better, I mean the leather skin around the handle was loose, so if I clip it the leather around will push it, making the frame difficult to stay...
So my question is how can I fix the leather around the handle then put the clip to stay properly?

You have to push it in very hard in order to compress the leather and backing, if you push it hard enough, providing all the clips are still there, it should stay in.
