as you know i have being looking to update the badge, well today the carbon fibre arrived

Image

standered badge as it comes from the car

Image
three parts of standered badge,
very easy to get to this point, just cut the heads off the plastic rivets and it comes aprt

Image

template was made and the carbon fibre was cut!!

pretty impressed with how it looks, just need to get some small drills so i ca make the holes for the lion to pop through.

will then stick it all back togeather and take more pictures of it on the car

the above image is actualy the reverse of the plate i made, once its in place and on the car i think it will look ok.

PROGRESS ON THE REAR BADGE IS ONE WILL BE GOING TO THE COMPNAY IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS TO BE SCANNED AND IMAGES MADE!
THEN I WILL BE GETTING PROTO TYPES TO LOOK AT PRIOR TO PRODUCTION!!

How do you get the badge off the car and split it up? Could do with giving mine a good clean and a splash of paint :)

on the coupe there are two m6 nuts under the bonnet, un do them and then cut the sealant away on the outside between the badge and the bonnet.

on the rear of the badge the parts are held togeather with plastic welds, cut these off and then it comes apart.

to reassemble you will need to clue the pins on the back and use double sided trim tape to stick back down to the bonnet

Mmm, that there carbon fibre - is it just a fake lamination of the carbon effect? if so do you think that water will get in-between the laminate and bubble up? I only say this as it's the lamination fault that affects the rear badges on the saloons :(

nope that there is proper carbon fibre!!!

it wont be bubbling!!!

and it aint cheap.

if i was to make any to sell i would need to charge £20 each for just the carbon part, or £30 for me to dismantle yours cut and shape the carbon and re bond in place

Then you jump into the car with 2p in your pocket which will offset all the hard work with the carbon fibre. Im getting a feeling its about the aestetic improvement rather than shaving weight.
