rear suspension

Post by johntl »

when I go over a bump/hole in the road there is a heavy thump from the rear suspension ,which has got noticeably louder lately
The car has 167k on it , and never had anything done to the suspension am I right in thinking the rear shocks are shot or could it be something else ?
any ideas ???

Could well be the tie rods that locate the top of the suspension, I have had to replace mine twice. They are not to difficult to change but if you don't set them up correctly it will upset the rear tracking. If you want to do the job yourself let me know and I will give you a few pointers.
