OEM wheels for brembo V6

Post by thomasrs50 »

Hi all

I'm new to the forum, so will present myself in the appropriate thread.

In the meantime, I'm wondering what OEM Peugeot wheels will clear brembo V6 brakes without the use of spacers? There is a set of 207 Hockenheim wheels (17 inch) I can have for little money, but would they f.i. fit?

It would like the wheels to be 17 or 18 inch and blend in with the OEM 406 look.

Thanks

Thomas

Yes, normally you can use same alloys from 406 coupe. I can show an image from my 406 saloon with Brembo calipers and no spacers.Image

Those 'Tacoma' alloys are so rare in the UK, sadly, as these are one of my favourite wheels..
Although I also like the Lincancubar alloys on notrix's car :cheesy:

To the best of my knowledge there are no Peugeot oem wheels which are 17" / 18" that don't require a spacer to fit a 406
The 406 with brembo calipers require's a off set of 12mm which is very small most of the other offerings are between
30 & 35 mm offset.

Exactly all 406 coupe alloys models are 16 inches with ET12 offset and all these ones are fully compatible with Brembo calipers. But other alloys models are not compatible with Brembo it you doesn't use spacers.

With the exception of the 15" Starfish alloys on the 2.0ltr petrol models - these are not suitable for Brembos.

I'm currently running the 16" Coupe Starfish alloys on my saloon -- will I be able to upgrade to brembos?

Yes, no problem.
You will need the calipers, and also the brake pipes to suit as the bleed nipples are in a different place on the Brembos - I got a set from HEL online for £33.

"upgrade" is not the correct word to use there... The soggy, squeally, expensive and difficult-to-maintain brembo brakes are by far the worst part of the v6 coupé. When I had mine I wished I'd upgraded to brakes from any other 406.
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

mjb,
Dare I say it but yours must have been poorly maintained then because if in good condition & with
the correct pads / disc's they display none of the above traits (except expensive) & are a huge improvement over

I don't have any problem with normal use at my 406 saloon. I believe these calipers increase the security.
