Wheel Balancing

Anybody else had trouble getting their wheels balanced?
The 04 estate I've just aquIred came with 16" alloys(standard, I've checked)
I've had new tyres fitted but can't find anyone to balance the wheels as there is no hole in the middle of them.
All my previous 406's have had 15" alloys with large centre caps, our 307CC has 16" but with a centre cap/hole.

You need to phone/ask around for someone with a centreless balancer.

Some 'standard' balancing machines have an add-on gubbins that can be used to hold your wheels - if you're forced to use one of these, insist they re-test the wheel after rotating the wheel plaus adapter 90 or 180 degrees, relative to the machine itself. (I learned this the hard way).

Hi, I have had 'Hoggars' on my car for years, in fact I have 2 sets.... ( Hoggars is the name of the flat faced 7 spoke alloys fitted in 2003/2004 )

If you go to a reputable tyre shop, they should have the adapter specially designed for centreless wheels - my local Tyreland does it no problems but the smaller independant garages wont have the facilities. A fair few people ditch the Hoggars, especially the 406 Coupe owners, in favour of other wheels, but I really like them...

Edit: Doggy beat me to it..!! I forget he has 15" centreless alloys fitted to slightly earlier 2.2Hdi's - Mistral I think they are called?

Thanks, these wheels are very similar to look at to the 15" ones on the other & previous exec's but withjout the centre cap/hole.
Trouble with living in the sticks then.
Will have to have a trip to town I suppose.

My C5 has those centerless wheels, my tyre man cursed a bit but did have an adaptor for them and he is only a small outfit. I would have that any of the major tyre suppliers would have been able to accommodate them.
