I've got new wheel bearings/hubs ready to be fitted with new back plates.

In the video below, at 2:50 you can see 'hub bolt indent' being removed. Is this a factory fitted item? I can't seem to find any for fitting with new new hub / bearing. I take it this indent is a safety feature (preventing hub bolt loosening)

It's just where the lip on the hub nut is staked (=hammered) into the slot in the stub axle. All you need to do is punch it clear so the nut can turn.

Always use a new hub nut & once you have torqued it to the correct setting you stake the new nut with a punch or a flattened cold chisel into the indent in the stub axle.

I've mentioned this before in other posts, but here is a reminder....

Remove the hubs before you try to do any work on removing the handbrake shoes...it will make the job a lot easier.
When you have fitted the backplates make sure you fit everything related to the handbrake, including the shoes, before you fit the new hubs/bearings...it will be much easier to fit the springs and shoes with the hubs out of the way!
The hubs/bearings should be the last thing to be fitted before the drum/disc.

In the video it shows fitting the hubs before the shoes! This is just making life difficult for yourself!

I have took the plunge and purchased a pair of the Klokkerholm replacement backplates
And I am pleased to report that they are great quality, they are even galvanised 8)
A massive saving over O.E, £79.00 the pair delivered compared to £105 each + vat O.E :cheesy:
I'm going to get them powder coated at work as well just to be safe.

So if anyone's unsure about these let me reassure you that there just the job :)
I will post up pictures of the job
Here's the said backplates :

P.S if anyone's got some old scrap one's with the caliper mounts still there, I'd happily give a few beer tokens + p&p
for them :cheesy: .
Cheers DDD.

Nope, probably because the seller has invented a new name for them :frown:

The rather look like the Klokkerwotsits for a grossly inflated price...

Why am I thinking that in a few years time there will be meetings in remote corners of car parks under cover of darkness where exchanges of dubiously-sourced Peugeot back plates will take place for many monies.
