Loss of Brake Servo
This can manifest itself as a big problem symptomatic with a hard brake press either with or without engine running and a big effort to stop the car when driving.
In my case it was the grommet on the non-return valve attached to the servo housing that had deteriorated.
The replacement here comes as a kit with new valve and grommet and fitting can be a bit of a struggle. I found the best way was to put the grommet on the non-return valve first and then with a touch of lubricant (wash-up liquid) gently but firmly push the valve and grommet home to seat securely on the servo housing.

Oops, glad it's sorted. How old is the car? (he asked, in a "they're all getting old, will they all do this?" manner)

Thanks Steve. 2001 Hdi. 236000 km on the clock doesn't use a drop of oil and starts on the button first time.

All rubbers will perish eventually, so it is always worth checking condition. I use a smear of glycerin on rubber to help keep them from doing so. There are proprietary treatments on sale, but I have yet to find one better.

Good Afternoon All
I'm having this issue just now, It looks like the Vacuum to the Servo is not sealed tight enough. Can some one point me in the direction of where I could buy a replacement. Ebay as well as general searches are throwing up nothing

Re: Loss of Brake Servo
Hi, welcome to the club..
I can't get on my PC at the moment, but when I do I'll give you the part number for the thing that fits into the front of the servo, they are at Scrapyard's or available new from Peugeot main dealers...
Is there a chance the pipe that feeds the servo is kinked or partially blocked, as this has a massive affect on the brakes!! If you have access to a hand held vacuum gauge you can see how much vacuum is being created by the vacuum pump, should be -700 to -900 on tickover.

Re: Loss of Brake Servo
Hi, sorry I forgot
The part number for the piece where the vacuum pipe meets the servo is 4955 31, this is the same for cars with or without ESP.
If you need a new servo ( ) then its 4535 P3 for cars without ESP, 4535 K9 for cars with ESP.
