All I can say is that I replaced 4 Sunnys with 4 part worn Michelins and the improvement is astonishing.

I haven't mentioned part worns on similar threads for fear of being shot down in flames. All of mine are part worn from a local garage that lets you choose from their stock (so you can check date codes and pick brands) at £25 a corner balanced and fitted.

Trouble is the 205/60/15 mine runs on aint that common so choice is usually a bit limited.

Some people are staunchly against used tyres but chosen well and from a decent place I can't see the problem. I've had then before and will in the future.

If you had a brand-new set of Michelin's at over £400.00 then after a month or two they are by definition part-worn, or 'used' as it were.

Ordered 4 goodyears +1 firestone for the wifes car from BLACKCIRCLES , just been down to the local garage to get them all fitted, only takes a couple of days to get them delivered, cannot fault them!
paid £52.49 for goodyear efficientgrip performance , price includes valve /balance/disposal of old tyre
saved me about £60 on local garage prices.
Just got the 406 serviced & through the MOT - needed front pads/wipers/ but the surprise was the n/s sill needed welding at the rear, I suppose the car is nearly 14yrs old now
Also the sump needed re-tapping ,2nd time its been done , he says it might need another sump next time!

Sounds like we're all running on part-worns and are afraid to admit it!

£53 a corner for premium is great. Big squidgy 195/65 r15 may be unfashionable, but they're comfy and cheap

My sump was getting bad at 11 years and 200k with oil changes at between 6k and 12k. Good to know that a re-tap has held for a while.

Yes I agree a lot more people are using part worns that will ever admit it , as I said I used them for 4 yrs and no problems, As long as you get premium make and able to check them over!
I followed the threads on sills as one of mine needed welding for the MOT very helpful thanks. will give the sills a good check over when it gets a bit warmer!!!!
