Are you sure it's not the Friday 13th?

Post by Doggy »

Had a flat on the A14 this morning - OSF let go and was well and truly rogered by the time I could stop safely in a layby.

Up till I contemplated changing the wheel, I hadn't appreciated just how busy this road is and how close you would be to the traffic.

Took the coward's way out and drove the whole car up onto the pavement they've built on the inside to stop the truckers destroying the verge. This got me about 10 feet from the passing traffic, but I certainly didn't take my time doing it. About 6 minutes start to finish I reckon. Was ever so pleased to get out of there.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Holy sh*t, glad you got it sorted, that was definitely the right thing to do.

My Honda shat its Distributor whilst joining the busy A1 through Stamford a few years ago....I forced that thing to cough and splutter the next 500 yards so I could leave the road at the first opportunity....burnt a whole in the CAT, was glowing Orange when I stopped. Better than being splatted by a Lorry though.
