Corail alloy wheels ...

Post by hullcitytilidie »

Hi, I have a chance to buy a good set of alloy wheels with winter tyres for my 1999 2.0 HDI 110 that are marked as Corail B. All other marks match except these are newer and marked 2001 as opposed to my own wheels marked Corail without the B and marked 1999. Is there any difference and are they interchangeable with mine? My very best regards, Geoff.

Hi & welcome.

Well that's a new one.

AFAIK all wheels are interchangeable between all models -- including the coupe. The only caveats are that some wheels don't fit over the Brembo calipers on the V6 coupe, and if changing size (15 or 16) then you should tell the computer.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

Hi Geoff.

Yup, all 406s are interchangable but the coupe ones will give a slightly wider stance as the offset is different.

As far as I know too, the Corails are all the same???

Hi & welcome aboard. 8)

I think all Corails are the same too.

Bear in mind they're a PITA to balance as few tyre places have a centreless balancer and someone with the nouse to use it properly.

Corails do have the centre caps, luckily...

Some Pug alloys ( Hoggars, Vortex, the ones on Doggys car.. ) have no centre caps so they need a specialist tyre place to balance them

Not unless you change the total rolling diameter of the tyre+wheel. And there's absolutely no good reason to do that on a road car.

Hi lads, thank you very much for the welcome and kind replies. I've picked up the wheels and tyres, smashing condition complete with centre caps! He even checked around his garage for other 406 bits and came up with a brand new, boxed front fog that he never got around to fitting! I felt like a thief giving him £100 for the lot!

I've compared the new corail B to one of mine and I can't see a difference other then that B marking, later year stamp and that it has a different part number. Best regards, Geoff.

Thats a good result..

P.s. Good luck fitting the fog light, it can be done with the front bumper still attached but you need the patience of a saint and hands like a small child.....
