words of warning 406 owners

Post by mikesthedaddy1 »

To all 406 owners.be aware of the handbrake shoe retaining pins they have a tendency to pop out into ur drus causing a lot of damage I had two of mine go today chipping my abs ring now after repair my abs kicks in whenever it feels like under braking usually low speeds I suggest u do what I have done and use a nut and bolt with washers and springs instead to prevent this issue now I have a massive job of changing the ring bastard car lol

Just looking at prices they seem maddest enough for a hub and ring but how many teeth should it have. Also does anyone know where I could find some replacement backplates going to.do the lot while I'm there

Sorry to hear that, something else to worry about I guess :(

Pull the fuse I guess, you'll probably have a warning light up. Be very careful with the brakes too, I suspect modern manufacturers don't bother much with ballancing the brakes any more, relying on the ABS to sort it out, so I'd be worried about brakes locking up, especially the rears.

I think ade1122 (coupe club or ebay) will be your best bet for the backplates.

29 teeth for a D8, 48 teeth for a D9.

Your HDi 90 is almost certainly a D9, (99-04) - they have clear headlights and black honeycomb grille.
D8's, (95-99), have frosted headlights and a slatted grille in the body colour.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
