Lower Ball Joint Socket size

Post by samjesse »

Hi
Could some one please tell me the size of the socket to remove the lower ball joint on 2001 406 2.0L petrol? I am after one to buy.

Thank you

Thanks Omega, job done without too much bother, though I did find it necessary
to put some light pressure on this special ball joint socket using the trolley jack
(car supported on axle stand of course) just to stop it trying to ride over it's lugs.

The size is definitely a 35mm. If you are planning to renew this joint hope you have better luck than I have.

Have tried everything bar cutting it off with an angle grinder. If anyone knows how to get this nut off 21mm I would be delighted to know how. The allen key socket in the bottom of the shank of the joint has worn round, the joint goes round and round, it appears the nut is rusted to the shank..........?????? :( fed up, I have spent days and all sorts of methods to release this nut :!:
Any help would be appreciated

You are supposed to put the nut back to hold the socket in place. :P
