I have recently replaced the rear brake shoes on my 206 and have noticed a squeal every time I apply the brakes once the car has been driven for 20 minutes or so, the squeal gets worse the hotter they get. Could it possibly be hub nut not tight enough? Tightened it with a 12v clarke impact driver

206 squealing from brake drums when hot

Re: 206 squealing from brake drums when hot
Most likely to be dirt or brake fluid on the shoes!
Did you check the brake cylinder for leaks and did you clean the shoes before fitting the drum?
Take the drums off again and inspect the shoes for dirt or brake fluid then clean them up with some rough sandpaper, readjust the brake shoes and refit the drums after cleaning the drums with brake cleaner and/or sandpaper.

Chamfer the leading edges of the linings with a file or sandpaper while you are there, that should help.

The shoes came with chamfered edges and I replaced the brake cylinders along with the shoes. I have had the drums off 4 times cleaned and greased all moving parts, there is no dirt and no leaks either. The squeal always comes back once the brakes have warmed up, they dont squeak at all if I reverse and apply the footbrake though

Is it a normal brake lining type squeal or could it be something mechanical?

Ive never had squealing rear drum brakes before so not sure but its strange how it only happens after ive driven for 20 mind or so, it gets worse the longer I drive the car. I will have another look tomorrow and compare the old shoes
