Extracting snapped wheelbolts?

Post by PeteA »

Two wheelbolts have snapped in the front n/s hub of my Coupe today while I was investigating a very poorly sounding wheel bearing. Any idea how to remove the rest of the thread or is it a new hub job?

Cheers, Pete

Drill it out, it will take a while mind, and you will need decent drill bits
Start off with a small drill bit and work your way up

You can get a bit that extracts bolts but I forget what they're called,

There's a good write-up on 407 owners:
http://www.407owners.com/forums/viewtop ... 32&p=38387
However, I think you have to pay to see it

only cos the poster wanted to get his alloy wheel off to 'claim' a free set from his dad, who is way to soft with his kids.
Think its posted on peugeotforums as well tho

I've seen the guy at the garage near me welding nuts on when the owner has lost the adaptor.

If there is enough left and you've got a steady hand thats an option.
