sorry another 306 question,

anyone know if the 306 suspension is supposed to be floating?
iwill try and explain,

if iput weight on the car and press down you can see the suspension cup rise and fall,
theres no clunk or bangs,
both sides are the same, something ive never checked before or seen, so not sure,

the springs and struts are newish 6-7mths old, last owner,(Mech) replaced them before ibought it,
also new discs and pads (Mintex) the pads are half way down, so much for Quality
iwill get some green stuff ones or the like,

yep that's how it's meant to be, mine is the same so nothing to worry about

Still confused with this, got m.o.t due shortly hence the thread

There's 1mm or so play in the struts if I pull on the wheel at 12oclock,
No clunks or bangs,

I'm thinking bearings

Wouid the slight play be an m.o.t fail..

he may fail or give an advisory for it no way to know till you take it down and get them to look at it, it's not excessive but he may be having a bad day and be looking for stuff it can fail on

put your hand on the top of the strut top mount and see if the play is up there a wheel bearing with 1mm play should make sum noise all check the ball joint too

Sorry ishouid of put strut bearings, the wheel bearings are fine
I've tightened the top strut bolt one side now as no play

I'm going to dismantle it all next week and rebuild both sides
The p bushes need replacing so I might as well strip it all out
