HI,

I am a newbie to the site so hello.
I have a 2002 2.0HDi 110bhp 406 Estate with knackered brake backplates. The pins holding the shoes on keep falling out and buggering up the shoes!, can anybody tell me where to get some new backplates from?
It has rear disc set up.

Any help would be greatly appreiciated.
Cheers
jon

Hiya mate, welcome to the forum :)

We haven't found anywhere that produces aftermarket backplates I'm afraid, and they're a known weak point on the 406 which is pretty much immune to rust otherwise

Here's my thread on the subject from last year, as you'll see I had to buy them from the main stealer at the cost of a couple of limbs

I seem to remember from SB that there are two types of backplates, those for drum-only rears and those for drum-in-disc type.

Make sure you get the right one :)

Maybe we should be removing them, cleaning them up and painting them?
