I've just had a 4 wheel alignment done yesterday cost £60 but it was worth every penny. The back end of the car had a slight bit of sway and the inside edges of the back tyres were wearing out quicker than the rest of the tread. Theres only 2 places in dorset that do a proper 4 wheel alignment. Car is nearly ready for mot on monday. Hopefully it will pass. Handbrake needs adjusting again!

If you can find somewhere with a Hunters Machine that's half the battle. These use camera technology not lazers and get the alignment spot on.

Everyone told me the rears on my Volvo couldn't be adjusted but the trained Hunters man changed my rear Camber and the car's really planted now (apart from not steering straight due to a worn track rod )

On the way to the MOT try running with the handbrake applied (sensibly) to rough up the friction surfaces. Other than that the 406 is pretty kind to you at the MOT.

The dude that I usually go to knows his onions. He advised on the phone to check rear drop links and link bars before bringing it in as they are a common problem on the 406. Without telling him, he knew to bring the car down to the peugeot specified ride height before proceeding with adjustment. The geometry is saved onto the computer so next year I can see what's changed/deteriorated.

From what you said welly i'm 99% sure that the equipment they used was hunter it fits the description of what the fitter said that their equipment uses camera technology instead of lasers. All they do is put the car manufacturer and model in the computer and thats it computer analyses info from cameras and then the fitter adjusts the rear wheels first then once they are correct then they line the front's up with the rears. He also said it cost a lot of money to buy the equipment he told me he had done a lot of research on wheel alignment a lot of the main dealers don't have this equipment so i think they must be picking up a lot of work.

I thought £60 to have this done was very reasonable they charge £30 for front alignment and the same for the rear. I'm just very lucky they are only 9 miles from where i live. I'm cleaning the rear brakes up over the weekend and adjusting the handbrake. i'm also having a look at the lower balljoint rubbers as i've heard mot testers are very strict on this now if its split then its a fail. I've ordered myself one of those sockets to get balljoints off. Going to keep a spare one here just in case.

Car feels much better on bends and theres no more sqealing noises on roundabouts.
