propa rumbleing noise from front of car

my new 406 has developed a really bad rumble when being driven over 30 mph gets louda the faster you go but disapeers when wheels are turn left.
Thinking bearing but they would rummble all the time wouldnt they

possibly but it could also be a worn CV joint.
Have you jacked the car up and tried wobbling the wheel.
Grab the wheel at the 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions and give it a wobble. Same again for the 12 and 6 o'clock positions.
If there is much play in them then i'd go with the ball joints.

couid be a fubard tyre,
my cars making a rumble noise which gets quieter when its cornering but thats a broken spring

Sounds very much like a wheel bearing.
CV joints get noisier the more lock you put on and would show on full lock turning in a car park.
Driving downhill with the car out of gear the noise should be loud if its a wheel bearing.
Another way to check it out is to securely mount the car on axle stands and spin the wheel comparing it against the other side.
Check the tyre at the same time.

jack the car up and spin the wheel feel for roughness, id say that your best option,

It could be a brake issue. When I bought mine it was painful to be in the car at motorway speed due to the noise coming from the rear brakes. It was impossible to pinpoint the source of the noise so I only discovered the cause after jacking up the car one side at a time and turning the wheels by hand. It was obvious at that point that it was the rear brakes.
On closer inspection, the backplates (which the handbrake shoes are mounted to) were badly rusted and swollen, causing constant contact with the discs. Took a hell of a lot of elbow grease to fix that. Wish I'd just bought new backplates... (2nd hand, not £90 each from the dealers
)
So whether it's a brake issue or a wheel bearing issue, your first port of call needs to be to jack the car up and spin/wiggle/wrestle all four wheels by hand.

Hey Wilko, did you find out what caused your rumbling? mine is doing exactly the same thing, rumbling over 30mph and disappearing when turning left

thanks guy for the help turned out to be offside wheel bearing plus the wrong side shock and spring
