Leading Arm Bushes

Post by ally406 »

I'm trying to rebush the rear leading suspension arm, but it's proving a pain. I got the old bushes out after a couple of hours, but I can't get the new ones in. I've got one in so far then it got stuck. I've left the arm at a garage to see if they can press it in, but the chap wasn't optimistic given the funny mushroom shape of the bush. Has anyone attempted this?

Well, finally got this unpleasant job done. Garage got them pressed in but said it was a pain in the arse. The 3 bolts that hold the bracket in were little more than finger tight  They're supposed to be 100nm, I don't know if they worked loose, or if someone else had forgot to torque them up. Might be worth checking next time you are under yours.

I believe there is a specific tool for this which means you can do the job in situ. Its about £45 off ebay.

Hi Loon, are you not thinking of the tool for the lower arm rose joint bushes? I've already done those, not too bad once the assembly was off the car. I'm talking about part number 15 in the picture:

..Thanks for clearing things up with a diagram. Looks like a pain in the ass...which will be fun when I get all the bushes out of mine so I can get poly ones made up.
