Front droplinks on a 2.1TD estate

Hi guys,

After a bit of research on the forums to my clicking/clunking noise coming from the front I've decided it's probably the droplinks, however I'm in a bit of a pickle as to which ones to buy.

My 406 seems to have been built on the cusp of switching between one part number and another (late 1997).

The one that lines up with the service box part number of 508740 is this one:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-106-406-F ... 4cf2fd5efe

However, the same seller also sells these shiny ones that look different, but fit "all" 406s for 9p less:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-406-607-F ... 3a6478e40a

They both look very different, so am I right in assuming the two parts aren't interchangeable? If so, I'll go for the first ones.

Cheers!
James.

the 406 droplinks fit a number of other cars . citroen C5 , pug 607.

you probably need the ones in the 2nd link. just check on your car if you need the ones with L shaped ends

or L shaped on 1 side and straight on the other as in your 1st link.

heres a diagram i made for this subject. it shows were the links is

ignore the part numbers that will only confuse you.

you either need the link with 2 "L" shaped ends (your link 2)

or link 1 were one side is straight and other is "L"

thats it, when you know which is on yours just buy those from ebay. there is no long, short or different shaped ones.

one link fits most

 sums up my experience so far with this car, I bought the wrong fuel filter from ECP, it fitted, but was about 2 inches shorter than the old one so I had to take it back!

Thanks for that, I'll have a looky tonight :)

Awesome thanks, is it possible to tell on full lock without taking the wheel off? If so I'll wander out to the car park and do that now! :)

no. but stick your head under the front bumper and look behind the wheel. you will see it easy enough from that angle 8)
