Vibration when breaking

I have a problem with my V Reg 406 2.0 executive estate. When I break I get a lot of vibration through steering column.Any ideas

Warped discs would be my guess :|

would that be the front ones and are they easy to replace

have a look at the discs on there now, whip off the front wheels and have a look, my guess would be its probably the fronts but you never know, it may look fine under there but the warp could be so slight you would never see it without having them tested.

new ones are cheap enough from plenty of places, if you are going to change them remember you will need new pads as well as its not really good practice to leave the old ones on but again they arent the most expensive things and will need changing anyway at some point so it wont be wasted money.

Plenty of the members have changed theirs without any problems, if you do go ahead with the job just stick up a thread asking how to do it and i am sure there will be plenty of answers and links to members own threads on how they did theirs.

is the vibration both or on one side,
have you noticed anything else .. eg judders or clunks ?

Not heard any clunks, just seems to judder when I brake to slow down

as above mentioned then check the front pads & disks .. when was they last changed ?

To be honest I dont know as I only got the car about a month ago. I know the discs and pads are cheap enough to buy but my problem is carpel tunnel syndrome in hands so cant grip anything tightly so looks like its an expensive garage job

Definitely the front discs are warped if the vibration is through the steering.

i'm only in wigan. if you want i will do the job for you. i can drive to you . i have all the equipment to do the job. and it doesnt take long. bout an hour a side . 8)

is there any-one else who could change front and rear discs and pads for a reasonable price, not been able to get hold of gary406. Getting a bit desperate now

just got your pm mate been away from 406oc for a few days (busy at work)

i can call down saturday or sunday morning mate and do it for you.

have you got discs and pads for front and back ?
