Lowering advice, Droplinks

Front spings are semi finished. The top mount was rusted to pieces so ordered a new one but i was wondering

1) Do the springs take time to settle? one forum said no several others said yes

2) Shorter droplinks? will the standard restrict the lowering springs?

Hoping to hear from people who have lowered the 406 before ( i know it is a small group ha)

1) yes they will take a few hundred miles to bed in. you will notice it will go lower once bed in

2) never heard of any1 needing new links .

Thanks mate, everyone ive asked say they will take time to bed in.
I only ask as its only about 1/2cms lower and they are 4cm drop springs, some people recomend to drive it for 100miles or so but i ant as i have no gearbox fluid and the tracking is completely off.

I also asked about the drop links as my friend now says i have positive camber ( i have an idea what hes on about but dont know definitively ha)
My other friend with a 04 plate polo says he'll have to get shortened ones when he lowers his.

Im currently searching 306/ 406 forums for advice on drop links

Plan of action
1. Renew gearbox oil (one thing i'd never do unless i had too ha)
2. New budget tyres (temporary until i get alloys which i am now looking for) and get tracking done
3. Learn what roads to avoid due to speedbumps ha

All i did was buy pizza ha my mates have a lot more experience with springs than i do so they've done a lot of the work

the link rods go from the anti-roll bar to the bottom half of the shocker so there is no differance there.

i wouldnt worry to much about driving 100 mile straight away. before you know it they will be bed in .

also make sure you dont put more than 2 litres of gear oil in the gearbox , make sure all the old stuff is out . over filling gearbox can also cause the shaft seals to bust .

Do you need a special tool to fill the gearbox? as im guessing the plug is under the car.

Also i looked through some of ddohertys406's posts and he had the same thing happen with the driveshaft. He put it back in and it worked fine so im hoping it'll be fine ha

you fill the box from the breather on the top of the box,if you get an emty 1ltr gear box oil bottle it will have a pipe on it that fits into the breather,cut the bottom off that bottle and turn it upside down so you can fit the pipe into the breather hole and fill it up but its slow to fill so take your time. :D

nah no special tools, i just use a small orange funnel. there is a 20mm plastic bolt on top of the gearbox, remove it and stick funnel in.

as craig said some gearbox oil bottles have a tube that comes out but the quartz gear oil i use from dealers doesnt hence the small orange funnel 8)
