Hi All
I am new to the site - but not 406's we had a TTD Estate for years.

Just acquired a very nice 406 GTX HPi superb all round bar a couple of minor issues.
94k wIOne Owner with full PUG History :cheesy:

Plus.......I have a clonking/rattle from the Front Near-side Suspension, happens on rough dressed roads and is worse on bad ones.
BUT doesn't do it when turning :? even on a slight turn....
I have been advised that it is probably the Link Arms and that they go with mileage, easy enough job.
But I think it is more inboard? any advice

Obviously hoping it's the links at £20 + Fitting probably do it myself....
As an ex OMEGA Driver with a good forum, delighted to see we have one for the Superb 406 :D

Hello mate!
It's either the antirollbar drop links or the ARB bushes. I would change both as a matter of course, make sure you do both sides!
Not a very difficult job, you may have to grind off the drop links though.

Hi mate
Sounds like it, thanks for the advice!
Figured it must be related to the steering.

Prob get my mate to fit, although straight forward.

Many thanks

do the droplinks 1st. the anti roll bar bushes dont often go on a 406.

i bought a set of ARB bushes 2 years ago and still have them - the knocking was caused by droplinks so once changed and knocking was gone i never did do the ARB bush

I must have bought a couple of pups then, I had to replace them on both my 406's
My reasoning is that you've got to remove the drop links to change the ARB bushes anyway so do it all in one hit for the cost of them!
